Dr Donald Broom from Cambridge University describes how cows react when they have solved a complex puzzle, “The brainwaves showed their excitement; their heartbeat went up and some even jumped into the air. We called it their Eureka moment.” Source And yet these animals get slaughtered at the rate of around 9,000,000 per year in Australia alone (just for meat, not to mention dairy).
